Midnight Diner: The Mixed Bag of Goodies

This is one of the first Japanese series that I watched on Netflix and I loved it so much that I am finding it hard to find anything else that keeps me glued to the screen like this one did. To help you understand why I loved it so much is because I am a sucker for short stories, (and food) and although the series focuses on the same diner every episode, the stories are focussed on different customers so there is no monotony.

I won’t be revealing much about the stories here (because it would ruin the experience for you) but you can expect everything from suspense to love to even horror. I thought all the stories were interesting and helps you understand how differently people think and how we all lead such different lives. I really like the owner of the diner, referred to as the ‘master’, who, while trying his best to stay out of their lives, tries his best to console his customers. I also like how his diner becomes a sanctuary for people from different walks of life.

If you are looking for a series that you can watch on a relaxed weekend then this is the series to watch. I would suggest to keep snacks on hand because this series does tend to make you hungry. Also, if you are the kind who cannot watch TV shows because you tend to forget the plot-lines and characters, well, the stories in this series are not related so you can watch the episodes in any order and with long gaps in between without it affecting your watching experience.
